Is the 100mm macro any good for studio work, or should I just shell out an extra 100 for the 50mm? Opinions please and thank you.

Feb 02, 2012 00:10 | #4 The 100mm macro is a very sharp lens and 100mm is a nice portrait focal length on a full frame camera. It might be a bit long on your 60D unless you've got a lot of room to work with. The only issue is that the autofocus is a bit slow.

Feb 02, 2012 20:52 | #11 I use both for portraits on a full frame camera. On a crop, the 50mm might be more useful indoors. For the extra $100, I would not hesitate to get the 50mm. It's really a great lens. The 100mm macro is mighty fine too.

Feb 02, 2012 21:56 | #12 I would. Mine fell apart from an 18 inch drop to the ground. AF gear got chipped and never worked again... after only 2 days of owning, TWO!! It was brand new.I gave it to a friend who only had the 18-55 kit lens as an MF 50mm f/1.8 and bought the f/1.4 USM version. 5D4 | 8-15L | 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS | 24L II | 40mm pancake | 100L IS | 70-200mm f/2.8L IS mk2 | 400mm f/4 DO IS
