Buying Sterlingtek through Amazon problem

I won't rehash the battery details (it's in my other thread).

Basically I bought a couple ST lp-e6 style batteries through amazon a couple weeks ago and one of them is defective. (It happens and I have used several ST batteries for a few years and have been very happy with them.)

Once ST found out I bought them through amazon they quit being helpful and said they don't warranty them. I have to take it up with Amazon. (They were about to replace one until they learned I didn't buy it directly).

Amazon says since it has been within their 30 day window I can send them both back for a refund if they are satisfied with the packaging I return to them...

So they are both saying to me that if I bought the ST batteires through Amazon and had a problem after the Amazon 30 day period, I am out of luck.

Just wanted to share that information, as it really surprised me.

So since you ARE within Amazon's return policy you are sending them back for a refund or an exchange. The rest is Buyer Beware on Sterlingtek's customer care.
I'd say your faith in their product was better than theirs!
Thanks for posting this. It's a good heads up!

These batteries are chipped the same, perform the same and cost less!

Yea, thats believable. No different than say buying a product of which Amazon was not an authorized reseller and thus the manufacturer not recognizing the warranty as a result. Reason they do that Im sure is that Amazon will allow any third party seller to SAY they are selling and shipping genuine anything but they might not be and ST doesnt want to warranty batteries that might not be theirs Im guessing. Since youre under the 30 day return policy from Amazon, just go that route.

Funny thing. I just got a phone call from one of the owners of ST and he said he just became aware of the problem I had.

Bottom line is he apologized for customer service telling me I was out of luck since I bought at Amazon.

He said they are very committed to only excellence in both product and support and is going to overnight me new batteries.

He seemed very genuine in his expressing that the person I had been interacting with at ST should have simply taken care of my problem.

Back to the warm and fuzzies I had for ST batteries.

Also I suggested they might help differentiate them selves from their competitors if they included a terminal cover (would probably cost them like a quarter I am guessing) and said he thought it might be a good idea and will look into it.

After reading this, I'd buy their batteries.

Sorry to revive a thread that is months old, but I just bought a SterlingTEK LP-E6 from Amazon, and guess what, defective, camera info shows it completely dead even though it is fresh off the charger, good to know I can send it back for a refund.

I have returned to the light side of the force.
