I kinda know someone like that. My gf's little sister shoots with a Nikon D90 and told me that my 5D classic sucked compared to her camera. Also she thinks anyone that uses Lightroom or photoshop is lame and SOOC shots are way better than anything else.

And she's not trolling either. Serious about it lol.

Sounds like a lot of the PJs I know :)

I shoot with a 10d, have been since it was given to me two years ago. my first dslr and only one so far. pushing 40k clicks i think...i've put about 20k on (mostly from product photos for an e-shop) annyywwaaay

my roomate is taking a web development/photoshop class and asked if he could borrow my 10d. I was like "yea dude, it's in my bag under my desk." he says, "you sure I can use it, I know it's like over a grand worth of gear, things takes really good pictures, I'm really happy you trust me." "I trust you"

Couple hours later, he comes storming into our room, "dude, i don't know what i did, but all the pictures come out pitch black and this wheel thingy doesn't work, I'm super sorry, I don't know what I did, but nothing I do makes the pictures acutally look like what I saw through the thingy."

I led him on for a solid hour pretending to figure out what he did wrong. replicating his problem by shooting pitch black photos and sighing profusely. I think he flipped the dial to manual mode witch was at some absurd setting and probably tried turning off the camera only to switch off the large wheel selector instead.

Got him good. He owes me a couple g's now. lol.

Poor guy! Yeah, my bet is manual and not set in a way that would work for the light he had, too.

Just to comment on some of the megapixel talk, I really don't know the megapixels of any of the five cameras I've owned. I do know the first one, a 20D, only had 8.2 mega pixels.

haha I always knew it ROUGHLY, but most of the time (especially with the G7/G9/S100) I'd have to think about it...my newest camera (LOVE IT!!!) is a 5Dc...I was talking to my parents about it today and wasn't exactly sure how many MP it is...I *THINK* it's around 11 MP lol

EDIT: haha...I told my parents 11.3 (could have sworn that's what it was) just checked it...12.8...FANCY!!! No wonder it takes such great pics, more emmpees equals more better pix0rz

I know my very first camera (Fuji Finepix, I think) had 2.something megapixels. Our first Christmas together as a couple hubby bought me a Samsung that was 7.2 MP. Then his work had one of those things where you got coupons for showing up, etc., and he got a blue Kodak 14MP camera that became mine. It died a tragic death when he attempted to drown me canoeing. By that point the Samsung had quit "reading" batteries right - it would take three shots and assure you it was out of juice no matter what kind of batteries you put into it. So I got my 15.1MP T1i for Christmas the following Christmas.

Haven't really owned a lot of digital cameras, to be honest...

The silliest thing I can say from all of that is the ones who assert "more megapixels make the image better" - there is so much more than that that defines good or bad image. I have a few butterfly images from the Fuji that I still love, and the Samsung has some great pictures from vacations and of my pets and my kid... It really is knowing how to use it and having an eye for composition, but we all know that here... ;-)a

Not really a thing I heard but a thing I saw.

I was at a wedding a few years back and noticed an older guest taking pictures with a tripod. However, the tripods legs were not extended and every time he took a picture he would bend down to look through the camera. After about 20 minutes of watching and noticed him having troubles repeated bending down and getting up, I assumed he didn't know how the tripod worked and showed how the legs extended. His response, "Oh for f's sakes, I've been doing this all day and my back is killing me."

The funniest thing I've heard (A LOT!) is that the 5D MkII successor is _____. ;)

I believe the reason to have the second bag is to put it on one's self- so one does not need to see the other one. Supposed to help, from what I hear.. You put the other one on her, as a safety, in case your's falls off.

You need a third bag for the dog, so he'll still respect you in the morning.

You especially realize it is silly after you have followed it and all of the gear snobs act like your older body might contaminate/destroy the good glass... :-|

Had a guy try to tell me that his 7D could focus on multiple targets (different distances) at the same time because more then one focus confirmation light was turning on (he was letting camera pick focus point).

This same guy also didnt believe me that dust in the viewfinder wont show up on images, even after i showed him how his camera works (light goes through lens and mirror flips up to expose sensor)...
