I was shooting at a hockey game and this sophmore (i'm a senior) walks up and gestures to my 7D. "Thats nice," he said and immediately rotated his body to make sure i saw the "5D" and "Mark II" badges.
"That's a really nice camera" I said, "I bet its good in low light"
"Yeah but I got it because it has a pretty fast burst rate. It's one of the fastest on the market," he replied matter-of-factly.
"Oh cool," i said and quickly changed my drive to high speed, looked through the vf and let loose, 8FPS ringing out like a machine gun. the kid just walked away, stunned.

Anyways, I've got a couple,

Was trying out my 135L at the dog park, A older guy walks over to me, we start chatting, he says he's been shooting motorsports for about 20 years and makes about NZ$5k a year selling images to magazines and such. He then told me, (pretty much word for word)

I wonder when Canon is going to bring out a 24mm f/22 I need one for landscape to make the front and back of the picture all sharp and not blurry ;):p

LOL love it! I'm assuming the "market" he's referring to is this one

The usual things I get have been posted, but the one that kills me is "Oh, bring your camera cause I love the pictures it takes" :'( Everytime I hear that I come this close to handing them the camera and walking away. There's been a couple times I've let a friend/family member use my camera because "it takes such great pictures", 8 out of 10 photos are OOF :D

Make sure you are up to date on 'Elvin Safety' regs, we wouldn't want any accidents.

Gear still the same. Wife drops in now and again though .

When you aren't using your camera do they double as cookie makers?

I like to push buttons on thingies that take pictures. Sometimes I like to push other buttons, too.
I only bite on the second Tuesday of every week, usually only mean people - they kinda taste like chicken...

I had a friend tell me that he'd picked up a digital camera at a garage sale, that while it wasn't as nice as mine it was still pretty good, and that it stored the shots on a 3.5in floppy disk.

I'll leave it up to the reader as to what the silly part was there...:p

I presume that you mean the part where he called it "still pretty good"? I wouldn't call that silly, it's subjective and depends on what he wants from the camera.

Maybe he just is happy with small images for facebook etc. The Mavica is still capable of producing nice shots, if at a low resolution compared to more modern cameras. It depends which one he bought though, the ones that used 3.5" floppies ranged from 307,000 pixels (640x480) up to 2mp before they dropped the use of floppies and moved on to CD-R and memory stick storage.

I doubt it was silly to buy it, assuming he didn't pay a lot for it, as the early digital cameras will possibly rise in value due to their having been the start of the revolution.

At my old work we had a box full of first-generation digi cameras just collecting dust in the basement...I still wish I had offered to "clean up some of the clutter and take out the garbage" hahaha ;)

That's a ridiculous comment. Are you seriously trying to claim that the larger the city the more the general population knows about different models of DSLRs?
