I like to push buttons on thingies that take pictures. Sometimes I like to push other buttons, too.

Believe it or not, most people can't tell the difference between photos taken by different cameras...from P&S to Hasselblad, even when viewed side-by-side. "Thats nice," he said and immediately rotated his body to make sure i saw the "5D" and "Mark II" badges. "That's a really nice camera" I said, "I bet its good in low light" "Yeah but I got it because it has a pretty fast burst rate. It's one of the fastest on the market," he replied matter-of-factly. "Oh cool," i said and quickly changed my drive to high speed, looked through the vf and let loose, 8FPS ringing out like a machine gun. the kid just walked away, stunned. Are you seriously trying to claim that the larger the city the more the general population knows about different models of DSLRs? ![]() Yup, just like in small towns the general population knows more about different models of rakes and tractors. -=Prints For Sale at PIXELS=-

I had the 1D MKIII out at the time. "How many megapixels?" he asks (his usual question). "10" I responded. "Really??" he said with great surprise. "My new Kodak has 16 megapixels" he replied with authority, "And a touch screen!". Proudly Australian Made!!

Snydremark my very own Lightrules moment More info | Feb 16, 2012 00:57 | #354 sandpiper wrote in post #13905253 I presume that you mean the part where he called it "still pretty good"? I wouldn't call that silly, it's subjective and depends on what he wants from the camera. Maybe he just is happy with small images for facebook etc. The Mavica is still capable of producing nice shots, if at a low resolution compared to more modern cameras. It depends which one he bought though, the ones that used 3.5" floppies ranged from 307,000 pixels (640x480) up to 2mp before they dropped the use of floppies and moved on to CD-R and memory stick storage. I doubt it was silly to buy it, assuming he didn't pay a lot for it, as the early digital cameras will possibly rise in value due to their having been the start of the revolution. Nah...it was just the 3. 5 floppy that killed me (it was one of the later, 2MP models) and zero user controls; power button and shutter release were the only functional switches. As long as he was happy with the shots he got out of them, I don't think that the purchase was silly. But, everything had already moved on to SD and/or CF cards by the time he picked it up and I was just startled by the medium. - Eric S.: My Birds/Wildlife
