1. She looks uncomfortable with the arm under her head.

I like the main lighting in both of them. If you have a fill flash you could use that to add some light to bring out the eyes. In the top one, just a little bit of light would bring out the eyes. In the lower picture, the overhead lighting is casting dark shadows inside the eyelids. Some fill could help there, too.

thanks cpam.pix. i actually used a 580exII for both, i just closed the aperature way down so the background is totally blacked out. i should have used some kind of diffuser in the second picture to soften and spread the keylight more broader.
