Looking very good. Should be an easy way to get into the 70-200 range if priced right. Also nice that it's black :D

I think it is mostly for NIkon. The only way it appeals to us is if the price is really low compared to the L and I don't see that happening.

^- saw that...

Reading the comments made me LOL...

Apparently the Canon f/4L IS is only popular because "its a good lens available used cheap"

True but Sigma managed to make a lens that is a decent alternative to Canon's 70-200 2.8 IS II and sell it for the price of the non stabilized Canon 70-200 2.8.
Maybe Tokina can do something similar but for the F/4 version.

It's probably just nikon..... that's a huge omission in their lens lineup, and considering prices on their other stuff it'll probably be too close to the canon to even bother

T3i, Sigma 10-20, Sigma 30 1.4, 18-55 kit, 55-250, YN-565, a few books, some software, and a desire to get good.....

They'll get my money if it's priced right. But do you guys really think they can price it much lower than the Canon f4L if they release it in Canon mount? I mean, the f4L is already pretty reasonably priced...

I hope so. I'd be all over it at $600-700.

I've compared Tokina's 17-35mm f/4 to Canon's 17-40mm f/4 and they are pretty much the same price.
That leads me to the conclusion that the new 70-200 might be just as expensive as Canon's offering :(
So yeah, it is probably aimed at Nikon users..

Also note they **** that there "Really isnt a hole in the lineup" Because -insert list of variable aperture junky chapo Nikkors and the 70-200 f/2.8G VR II- and also keep pointing out the 70-200 f/2.8G VR II because "Pros dont want anything thats not f/2.8"

I dunno..I see a lot of "pros" using the f/4 Canon lenses...

If this is cheaper than the canon, I'd definitely be interested. Tokina knows how to make a sharp lens, and their build quality is miles ahead of the canon 70-200 f4's.

The problem is flare and CA usually when it comes to Tokina lenses..

hopefully they sort it out with their new lenses...

True, but unfortunately the 70-200 f4 from canon isn't exactly the best at dealing with flare either, lol, tokina would have a hard time doing worse.

Nikon is developing F4 lens range. 16-35 F4 VR, 24-120 F4 VR. They are missing the 70-200 F4 VR.
Tokina releasing it just before Nikon does, getting a first to market win.
