My wife and I travelled to the magnificent Ilha Grande, the largest island in Brazil, over two years ago.
Finally had time to work on some of the photos and found this one that I really liked.

Nice composition, and the use of the foreground plants provides a good feeling of depth. When using foreground objects like this it is important to have enough depth of field to insure that the 'real' subject (the bay and hills) is also in focus.

It does look like a paradise, can't imagine your delay in processing the photos. The BG does appear to be OOF, but it may be some mist causing it.

I agree with your comments, guys. I didn't think of setting a smaller aperture at the time to ensure focus on the hills. Thanks.
