Pekka posted a link about crw conversion routines for software authors in a previous post.

I compiled it for windows...

It converts from CRW to 48-bit PNG just by drag-and-drop.

The downside is this. You have a lot of work to do to accurately set black/whitepoints and gamma. And, not many programs actually work with 48-bit files.
