Ok, so spinning off part of my photography business and have created a new company. This isn't going to need to be a portfolio-based website because I'm doing more than just the photography and, in fact, it's not focusing on the photography aspect of the business. So I need to create a website for the business.

Anyway, been checking out Google Apps for the free 30 day period and thought I'd check out using the Google Sites app to create it. I picked a template which should work ok (at least for now) but it's a PITA to change it.

So I'm looking for a better solution but I don't have a fortune to spend. I don't want one of those free sites which is Flash-based (I want no part of Flash). I don't mind spending money on it, I'm just tight right now because I'm starting this business from scratch. Eventually, I plan to invest money and doing it properly but, until then, I need to get something going.

I'm a geek but not a programmer so I need something which is reasonably easy to set up, edit and maintain.

Any ideas?

+1

there are TONS of free templates, and you can upgrade to custom down the road. Great for SEO too.

Hmm, pardon my ignorance but I had thought WordPress was just for blogs. I'll have to check into them for web sites.

Thanks.

for a price of a magazine subscription you could use a shared-hosting server. I'm a Canadian but my server is based in Houston, TX

My host offers cPanel which offers a few free CMS app to build website. I chose Joomla. They also have some shopping cart avail. For what it's worth, I use mine as a private family site not business.

It is widely used for blogs, but can be used for anything really... even eCommerce

Have to look into that. I just don't want to get bogged down with the website. I want to do what I'm getting paid to do. :)

Thank you so much. First of all, it's not free...I'd have to buy a PC to get it.
