Spotted this guy as I walked around a lake, couldn't resist capturing his nice colors.

Good ones Stan. I've been seeing these also but wasn't aware they were the breeding colors. Thanks for the information.

Hi Stan! Nice to see you posting in birds again. And with a couple of fine shots too. I'm with Dave on the portrait: beautiful colours.

Nice stuff Stan, I'll have to see if I can spot any with these markings around our area! They look really cool!

Thanks, Don. And thanks (with your note) for motivating me to get and shoot.

Hi Levina. It was good to get out for a bit. Not sure for how long, but we take what we can get. Thanks for your comment.

Thanks, Pat. Lots of the males here seem to have the color, maybe yours will. I've been thinking I need to get up your way soon, if things settle down here a bit.

Thanks, Craig. They seem to be mostly a Southern bird. I never saw them when I was in North Florida.

Appreciate your comments, Bret. I didn't know they ventured that far North, glad to know that.

That is certainly a treat to see Stan, and not one I'd readily be able to see.
I never knew they got that colorful I guess because the only ones I've ever seen have been so far away. Nice images, especially the 2nd.

Thanks much, Steve. They are plentiful here. It's not unusual to see a dozen or more in a small pond.
