I've been there several times over the years and it's always a marvel to see. Hard to imagine the fury unleashed when it erupted. Stan (See my gallery at http://www.pbase.com/sparker1

Were out in the garden with my Grandparents and said it sounded like a truck hit a house. Erik - Three Miles Final

Edit: I think #1 is great, and could be even better with just a hint of contrast and some selective dodging and burning to bring out some shadows and highlights. "and some selective dodging and burning to bring out some shadows and highlights" Thanks, Tom the Peregrineflier

There are lots of ways to do it, the easiest being using the dodge and burn tools right in PS. Google it, or even check YouTube and I'm sure you'll find lots of step by step tutorials on it. But, definitely don't be nervous about giving it a shot! You'll find it's a great tool to use on your photos! Michael

Feel free to mess with the image to show me what it shoud look like. : ) Thanks, Tom the Peregrineflier

Just added a little contrast, then did a little dodging and burning on the shadows and highlights. Nothing crazy, but it does give it a little more pop. Who knows - you may not like it, but it's always good to experiment with the tools you have available! Michael
