Very nice. I too remember where I was, I was 6 years old and living in Spokane. We got a few inches of ash from the eruption, I remember thinking it was snow and mad at my parents because they wouldn't let us go play in it. It's crazy that we got that much as we were 250 miles away from the mountain, the ash was so thick it turned day into night.

Thanks everyone. I to remember where I was on May 18th 1980. On may 10th, may family (I was a teen) moved from Bothell WA to southern CA. So, I missed it. We knew it was going to blow, saw it onb the drive by. I wish we could of moved a few weeks later. : ( But my dad still had to work up there and he saw it. He collected ash and brought it down to california. He made a small fortune selling baggies of it at a yard sale : )

I was 12; just woke up from a nap in Colton (E. WA) and it was 3pm and DARK out and it looked like it was snowing.

Spent WEEKS slogging through that crap to school and back, wearing those damned painters masks...:p

"and some selective dodging and burning to bring out some shadows and highlights"

Oh, if I only knew how. : )

ahhh...I don't feel so bad now.
I can at least dodge and burn, but talk to me about layers and my eyes just glaze over.
When it comes to anything other than just absolute basics, I'm an epic fail.

Hey Tom, these are some nice shots. I tried a quick re-edit of the first one. You should really try using your photoshop. Just make a copy and try different things until you find something you like. It ain't hard.
BTW, your sensor is dirty.

Regards,
Chuck

That looks nice, Thanks! I know I should learn PS, I have messed with it, but can't seem to make anything better. And I know my Sensor is dirty, but so is my mind, so I can not complain. : )

Gorgorgous shot of the Mt! Where were you taking that from Johnson Ridge?

I remember well when it blew.. spent months cleaning up after it.... we had to put pantie hose over the carborator of the car to keep the ask from filtering in it...
