Here is a picture of the board and the ribbon connectors. It is the one labelled J at the top of the board. It is a hinged connector, and the black hinged part is broken. I wonder if these have to exert pressure in order for the connection to be good. Thanks for the responses.
They don't really need pressure, but might be a good idea to secure it so it doesn't fall out. As I mentioned in my earlier post, use some hot glue on it,, hold the cable in place until the glue dries, and connect the rest. DOn't worry about breaking anything else, since the glue is non conductive, so it wont cause any shorts. And it is easy to peel off if for any reason you want to disconnect the cable again.
