Hi All,

We book for two weeks trip in South Island this April.

Just wonder that Old 101 (external link) is relevant to local Kiwis or not?

I don't like the New 101 (external link) much, as feel like promotion trick rather than genius tour guide.

Many thanks :)

Personally I think the old man 101 is much better. Hanmer Springs not so much anymore really.. it's been overhauled as a very touristy spot. Some nice surrounding country, but not a "must do" in my book.

Abel Tasman, Kaiteriteri and surrounding landscape for sure. We just went there for holiday and it was simply amazing. Milford sounds.. forget it. Simply beautiful country. Even the ferry across to Wellington from Picton is wonderful.

The westcoast of the south island should be on that list as well.. Hokitika up to Karamea with Karamea having the Limestone arch, caves and beautiful wild shores are a must for the southern trip. Golden Bay is another must do of the South Island.

Thanks xanctum :)

I got some answers from tripadvice, too.
