Just went out shooting last night to get ocean/star shots. Long story short, the wind blew my camera over. Nose dive. My Sigma 30 went all the way into the sand. Front element is perfectly fine though it did have a good 1/2 inch of wet sand on it. The AF works fine w/o grinding so I am pretty sure there is no sand inside the lens.

The only problem is there is sand under the focus ring. I was wondering how much it would roughly cost for Sigma to clean this out? Other than that, there are no problems that I can see.

Anyone got a guess?

Get a can of compressed air that you would use to blow dust out of a keyboard and lightly blow it out of there. Dry sand blows off fairly easy

The problem is that its underneath the focus ring. I have already managed to remove all visible sand. I wasn't able to get the sand out with air.
