Hey folks what kind of exposure times does photos like this take?

Not speaking for the OP, but to get starpoints generally a shutter speed of no more than 25-30 seconds before the points start to become trails (which would then make the moon shot a blend of two images to prevent motion blur on the moon).

Concur with all of the above!! Great shots.

You are correct. The first exposure for the scene the moon blurred and over exposed. A second exposure was needed for the moon. I used a zoom to capture the moon with more detail but the size is very close to how you would perceive the scene in person.

As usuall, stunning set. Particularly like the night shots. I can't imagine how cold it must have been. GIANT KUDOS.

Have plenty of Canons, enough ammo, enough to blow 'em to "L". Now, I just have to learn to aim.

They are all nice but disagree. The main tree is dead center of the frame, not NG material.

Thanks but the tree is definitely not dead center! :)

The primary tree is very obviously off-centered...do you shoot everything with a rule-of-thirds composition? Its a guideline...not a hard and fast "must do all the time" type of thing.

Great looking image, and a well-executed blend.

I agree with this. This is a cover shot, if not for natgeo, then somewhere else.
