Very, very nice! We had some hoarfrost here this morning, but I was too lazy to get out of bed and brave the 12 degree temperatures.

very nice .... make me wish I lived in a place that has snow!

Can you tell us about the EXIF for the night shots and how you manage your noise reduction for them?

My goto settings for nights shots where I have snow and full or near full moon light to work with is:

SS 25-30 seconds
ISO400-500
F3.5-4.5 (the widest my 10-22 can go) a 2.8 lens would be nice to have for night shooting like a Zeiss 21mm 2.8.)

If you have a better high iso noise cable camera then my Canon 40D you could go up into the ISO-800 range and still get usable images.

At IS0 400, f3.5 and 30 seconds of shutter I was still slightly underexposed. I prefer to expose to the right. Especially with night shots to better control the noise.

I used no in camera noise reduction and applied a little in post with Adobe Camera Raw. The noise wasnt really an issue with these shots. The white trees, snow and full moon light made that possible. That is the only time I can shoot at night and get usable results without using other light sources.

You are correct. The first exposure for the scene the moon blurred and over exposed. A second exposure was needed for the moon. I used a zoom to capture the moon with more detail but the size is very close to how you would perceive the scene in person.

Could you explain to me how you merged the two? If you zoomed for the moon shot, how did you shrink it again and put it onto the other image without making it look copy/pasted...
