Added a Hoodman Cinema Pro for use with my 1DMkIV and I gave it a little test at a local airport this past weekend. Lens: 70-200mm f/2.8L IS

Just three shots slapped together in Windows Movie Maker. Not going to win any awards but like I said, this was only a test.

LINK (external link) to clip on my website. There's another clip on there that's just one shot done with the same rig.

So is that some of your first video with your new body Jay?

It was pretty quick and a bit hard to see on that small viewer, but it looked pretty sharp and it looks like you captured those planes pretty well. Did you use a tripod or mono pod to help stabilize that heavy setup?

Body's not new but purposely applying myself to a little video shooting (with a dSLR) is... :D The Hoodman thingie makes a world of difference since you can actually see the LCD!

Did you click to make the player full screen?

I shot it hand held. I think the 70-200 is about all I can do that way. Anything bigger will be done off my Wimberley. Not a perfect solution by any means but I'm not going to pop for a set of sticks and a full-up fluid head right now.

Ah, Yeah, I suppose that does help the watching when you increase the size of the viewer. Duh!

OK, so now that I expanded it to full screen, you can see that it was hand help. A bit shakey on that second and last plane. And maybe a bit over exposed, but that could be a style thing too.

"Style Thing?"

Hell NO... I f-ed up badly and only had Windows Movie Maker to slap them together!

I'm playing with a demo of Premiere Elements 10 right now and it has the tools to smooth things out and get a better handle on exposure (as does LR4 but I guess you can't export video from the LR4 Beta :( )

It does feel odd to be cutting video again. Kind of like finding an old pair of tennis shoes in the back of the closet that still fit perfectly.

Take a look at the free 30 day trial of Sony Vegas Home Movie studio Platnium as well. I think it's pretty great and it less of a resource hog than Premiere. A very powerful tool!

I like the color correction tools as well as exposure manipulation. Pretty easy to figure out. And the built in tutorials are really cool.
