Top: 50 mm, f/8
Bottom: 24 mm, f/16

Thanks buddy. If possible could you post some night/low lights shots at 2.8.

Something of a dim street or something similar (sorry for being that specific, but I'm primarily looking into this lens for night time street photography...)

Has anyone heard anything regarding Tamron offering a rebate on this lens when their new rebates start (typically) on 10/1/2012?

Now that I see the images, it does not appeal to me that much, it looks too crispy :) too clean. Kind of futuristic look. Am I too old fashioned? Or am I too much used to see images taken with Canon lenses 24-70 2.8L, 70-200 2.8L ? What do you think?

LensTip Review - Some performance flaws noted (vignetting, distortion) which makes them think the lens should be slightly cheaper in price to be about half the Canon 24-70 MK II and closer to Sigma's non-stabilized price to be a better value.

No rebate. I hope on the next round, they will have a rebate. If it's comes down to $1000 with 6yr warrenty, I will sell my mk1 and buy the tammy.

Another issue I see with going with the MK1 route right now is that the prices are artificially inflated. Since the announcement of the MK2 at such a high price point, the market for the v1 lens has been asking for, and apparently getting much higher prices. I was looking at the 24-70 myself but the prices just keep going up.

Yeah, I had to buy the mk1 at this premium price. Because they don't make anymore, I think this will be the sell price until Canon lowers the price of the mk2. If Tamron has a better reputation, the market prices may all shift. I don't see that happening. However, I am watching sigma's new future line of lens. Looks promising because you can calibrate the lens via Sigma's software. Its competition that makes the prices go back to where it should be. I hope Sigma succeeds with thier new line.

The CameraStore crew rocks! Chris is a pretty good photo class instructor as well.

The Tamron is only a better deal if you can live with a slight decrease in picture quality (probably), having VC (certainly), less money (again most certainly) but much slower AF which was approximately 0.25s - 0.35s slower than the Canon in the same test (deal breaker for me in shooting dance).

I had the Tamron 24-70 and it seemed to miss AF a bit plus it died on me so I'm going to give the Canon 24-70 MK II a try (from the CameraStore!).

Yeah I like him, He seems very blunt and to the point when he's doing stuff and I apreciate that...

The slower AF would probubly drive me absolutely insane, its why I've NEVER been happy with any Tamron I've owned...

Can you describe how it died on you? (How long did it last, and what were the symptoms?)

Maybe DIED is too strong a word and should have used DYING as it was still usually functional when I took it back.

I was looking for rebates as well. They have rebate for the 28-75 but not for the 24-70. I've been trying to find deals. All are $1299. Ordering from B&H, Adorama or Amazon will incur tax. I ended up getting it for $1270 - $10 coupon = $1260 shipped and no tax. I also get 2% cashback. End total would be $1235.

Hopefully its a sharp copy.
