Mine is great but that's pure luck of the draw. I got a sharp copy that likes my body. A bad copy or a great copy that didn't like my body and I'd have a different view I'm sure, but that's simply acknowledging that not every 28-75 is the same, or the same on every body. I can easily believe there are 2 folks who's Tams are just as good as a 24-70...that lens on that body.

Just poking some silly fun :)

Exactly which is why a lot of us are hoping Tamron has broken new ground here with a professional level lens without the wide variations seen with the 28-75. The construction and images look promising, hopefully they will be providing MTF charts before too long.

What kind of body are you using? I assure you I could put my 24-105 on my 1D4 and have absolutely no issue shooting a wedding. That's why the 24-105 is usually on that body, I can get relatively clean shots at ISO 6400 so f/4 is no issue at all.

....WAIT, so images on a 1D4 (24-105L) at ISO 6400 @ f/4 are cleaner or comparable to shots at ISO 3200 @ f/2.8 (24-70) on a 5DII ?????

The ISO performance on the 1D4 is a full stop better than the 5D2.

Thats wicked! Thanks for the fast follow-up. Makes total sense why the 24-105L on a Pro Body is a killer set-up

The 1D X promises to be even better on noise than the 1D4 so you can see why so many people are lined up for one. It's going to get to the point where fast primes will only be used for bokeh and DOF. I wouldn't have the 5D2 except for the wide FOV for landscapes and the DOF difference.

Wow...the 1D4 seems a bit poppier and saturated than the 5D2...

or maybe just higher contrast

2 Different lenses were used so its hard to differentiate color, However noise is a little easier to compare through different lenses.

Quick question, if that second picture were taken with the 5D2, how different would it have looked?

How many of them have you ordered? If it's only one, that seems a little out of character for you :)

Thats the glass. Colors from a tammy look like that. Thats primarily why i changed lens from the 17-50 to the 17-55

Absolutly agree 1000% K6AZ-

My 24-105 lives on my bodies when i want a zoom. The 24-70 gets used as well but thats because we are looking for shallow depth shots during the dressing room shots and for other areas as well.I would think that with the 1Dx, all your going to need is a 35L and a 50L for fast primes and you are set. Everything else can be done with a zoom,,especially the version II Zooms

K6 if you owned a 28-75 and was saying 2.8 was soft then you had a lemon. I owned that lens for a few years and it was RAZOR sharp wide open and when I sold it for the 24-70 for focus speed and build there was ZERO upgrade for me in IQ...the tamron was equal to the 24-70L in every way with IQ..so maybe cause you got a lemon dont bash it and say its crap cause PLENTY of others on here will confirm the 28-75 is tack sharp wide open.

My gear

R7, 7D, Canon RF 14-35 f4L, Canon RF 50 1.8 STM, Tamron 70-200 G2, Canon 100-400LII, Canon EF-RF
