My first flower, in memory of Grandpa

I shot my first flower today. The photo is taken at 1:1 magnification... the flower was only about 6mm in diameter.

My Grandfather was a professional photographer; he had thousands of macro flower shots; I grew up looking at his photos hanging around our house. I never felt the urge to take photos of flowers but I saw this little guy today and I thought of him. I think he would be proud and I'm really sad he isn't here to see it. I know it isn't technically all that great but I still wish I could share it with him.

I'm sorry to hear about your grandfather. One of my friends just lost his grandmother yesterday

Sorry for your loss. But, what makes you think he didn't see it?

A professional photographer ... took thousands of macro flower photos ... you NEVER took a flower photo ... and you spot this small flower.

Sounds like he was there ... guided your eye to the flower ... you captured a moment that everytime you see it will remind you of him ... You made him PROUD!!!

I have really been impressed with the quality of work in this macro thread. I even drooled over some of the flower shots I've seen posted here. I have never been that into flowers but some of these have made me stop and gawk...

I don't know what the policy is for posting other peoples' work... but here goes. If anyone has beef, I'll take the photo down in a heartbeat; just let me know.

I believe this is speedwell. They are so tiny, even 1:1 doesn't fill the frame. You captured it nicely.

After a short bit of research I believe you are correct; good eye!
