if the canon 24-70 MK2 has identical image quality as the 70-200 2.8 IS II then I'm sold, IS or not. LOL

Have the brick now and a tammy 70-300 VC... will never upgrade to the 24-70 mk2, but if the price and optics is right i might consider it.

love the VC on the tammy, love the sharpness/contrast of the 24-70mk1... lets see what happens

I'm excited about the Tamron, but I'm a little concerned it may be lacking in image quality much like the 17-50 VC was compared to it's non-is sibling. Also, this lens would have to come in under $1000 to be a hot seller, considering the 17-50 VC can be had for under $500 here in Canada. I'd say $800 would be a good price point to start at.

I can't wait to see some reviews of the Tammy though :)

If this Tamron VC has the image quality slightly inferior to the Canon 24-70 MK1, for $1099, would you guys still buy it just to have image stabilization?

I can tell you one thing I don't like about both: 82mm filter threads.

As with everything else I'll let those that need to be the first to have these lenses be the guniea pigs. I'm not very likely to go for the Canon version since there is no IS and the rumored MSRP is supposed to be $1800-1900. I may be tempted by the Tamron depending on what samples look like.

I will definetely be looking at the Tamron. The VC would be great. Just hope it is as sharp as some of their other offerings.

Depends on the lens. I have a 28-300mm that feels a little junky but it takes good shots. Some of their lenses feel really nice, usually the more expensive ones.

Tamron need to give us another kick, 50mm 1.4 with higher AF consistency and better IQ than both Sigma and Canon. :)

Exepcially wide open as I just posted in the other thread. If this thing is sharp wide open and it comes in hundreds less than the Canon 24-70 it would be a big hit.
