51-point AF system with 15 cross-type AF points.
And apparently you can use crop lenses, too. That's kind of cool.
And nine of them function down to f/8!

As an example 35mm f/1.8 G is a DX lens, in D700 with DX mode you get somewhat like 50mm lens (smaller MPs) or you can get a full size image but vignette badly. thenextguy wrote in post #13838914 Ahhh....I wasn't aware their other cameras had it. Pretty cool though. I wish Canon did that. Nikon/Fuji.

Canon better get their a$$ in gear and announce the 5dX soon or there is going to be a lot of new Nikon shooters by mid March. That is once bad-ass camera for the price. ![]() ![]() Not just announce it - it also needs to be competitive!

KayakPhotos Goldmember More info | I agree that this is a fantastic price for what you're getting. I'm interested to see canon's approach to the 5D III. If they go low MP/high speed, than canon and Nikon will essentially switch places in their segment. Just a thought from Daniel

I suspect the D800 doesn't improve on the D700's low light performance. It's possible it's even slightly worse. Steve -- Website

Maybe the 5dmkIII will come in at its original rumor of 30+ MP -Omar- Flickr

High resolution which can be shot at ISO100 so noise at that level will be a non issue. -Omar- Flickr

Mind you, the 12MP sensor on the D700 was Nikon's highest-resolution sensor at the time it was released. Had the D3x sensor been available then, I have no doubt the D700 would have used it.
