Well, I keep saying I met my match with each new baby....this little one was very cute, but also very alert and did not sleep more than 5 minutes in 4 hours. This is one of my favourite shots from the day. I'm having more difficulty in post processing then normal....how does this look?

Nicely done. I have never seen a rustic wood floor tilt and run up the wall, though? And not sure the footstool on which the baby is propped is necessary to see all of it? I might think about cropping the entire wooden footstool out of it. That would also eliminate the wood floor that becomes a wall... Just a thought. Lighting looks even... maybe a bit flat, but even.

Thanks for the comments and great critique. I wasn't completely sold on the photo, but I do have one similar to what you suggested.....

Hi To me it looks under-exposed by a touch.

I think it's the rug colors that's throwing us off, blends a little too much with the skintone. Love that pose tho, very cute.

Love the pose, and the re-edit is much better, although I think I would have liked to see a little bit more of the belly button :)

Can you tell me what you are using for the floor? is it a vinyl roll, or printed? thanks

I can see you keep yourself busy. Well done. The image to me looks slightly underexposed. Also, the whole frame is a bit unsymmetrical. Forgive my quick and inaccurate masking as it's quite late here in UK. But you get the idea. Tell me what you think. Better crop will improve the picture a lot. Here is my take on it.

I like the props and the setup in general, and the baby looks much healthier in the last image.

What bothers me though is that the image looks cold, and since the baby don't have blanket i get the "feeling" that she/he is freezing.

I would try warm it up a little.

The backdrop is printed on vinyl and is from here - picked it up with free shipping after Christmas: http://www.backdropshoppe.com/Barnwoods-Rustics_c3.htm (external link)

Thanks everyone. It is colder feeling I think is do to the bluish white floor colour (trust me it was 25 plus degrees in the room). It was also under exposed on the skin - trying to stop the background from blowing out (should have worried about that instead). Like the edits...my imagine editing is set to ok, so I have no issues with people trying anything.

He is a redo: removed some blue tones, increased her exposure, burned the fluffy thing she was on as not to compete with her skin and darkened most of the floor.

Let me just clarify, i wasn't worried that the baby actually was cold it just conveyed that emotion. :-)

I would try to color correct the previous images where the baby looks more healthy to red on the forehead or eyes.

Here is a color correction made "pretending" the white paint on he tiles in front of the subject should be neutral white. The color correction was used using curves and adjusting the rgb values of each channel to match. (now this image might be way to warm for your taste, and the background is most likely not truly white to begin with)

EDIT

This gives you a starting point and from there you can tweak it to taste.

Best way to do this is to shoot a color target like a checker or a greycard, set your whitebalance from there to get a accurate whitebalance. From there you can then adjust to your liking, the risk of not doing this first that you will enhance any color cast from an incorrect whitebalance once you start to edit. This will affect the skin tones and your whole scene.

I did shoot with a whibal grey card. If I set it for that, the little one was way out she had jaundice and was yellow / orange. I was trying to correct for that.

I must say paullindqvist your EDIT version looks too warm to my taste. Maybe if we masked out the baby. Wonder what others and sf1 will think.
