Not 36MP!!

Please Canon, do not make the 5DIII 36MP. Please!!

And in other news, Nikon have jumped from 12MP in the D700 to 36MP in the D800! what happened to everything in between!

Why?

Because I consider it completely absurd. I'm sure some people would love 36MP so they can print wall size prints, but seriously, I struggle ever needing the 21MP of a 5DII even though I print large(ish, OK, not that huge). Plus, it's going to destroy the processing work flow speed of my computer!

Agree! This seems so hard for some to grasp.

Are you tied at the hip to the 5D series? If the specs don't work for you, then buy a different camera. There's so many choices out there...

Aimed at studio and landscape professionals the D800E should theoretically begin to rival medium format digital equipment in terms of resolution.

Time to stop pretending..the benefits here are blatantly obvious even for the 'I only need 2 MP' crowd

Fair points gentlemen, and I probably will not get a 5D at 36MP it that's what's released. Everyone is different and I guess I have very specific requirements. I want 18 to 24MP in full frame, very solid body (aka EOS 3), excellent low light, and a half decent AF system. High FPS not required. That's all!

Sounds like a 1ds2 or 1ds3 has your name written all over it, and then some.

svarley, you're almost spot on, except I'm not a huge fan of the extra lump on the bottom! I never shoot with a grip.

With the new 36 MP Nikon just announced you can expect much more of this until we see what Canon says.

You tell him just not to buy it. Maybe you should just not read it? His thread that is. (smile)

Oh and Wissigle, I'm with you. I was hoping the 1DX signaled the end of the pixel wars for Canon. I'd like a high quality, FF, self cleaning and sealed camera for still photography.
