So it figures, I didn't have a lot of luck on Saturday looking for birds, so I figured I would shoot my first love, trains. Then of course I see nothing but birds, LoL. At least I had the 7D, I usually use my 5D2 for railroad photography. I also had the 100-400 versus the 400 5.6, but you use what you have, not what you want! The first two were taken in Franklin Canyon, near Martinez California.

Then late this afternoon, I had the same camera setup, waiting for the next train to come by at Pinole Creek, when this guy lands on the railroad bridge about 20 feet from me. It's a hawk obviously, but I am not brave enough to identify it yet. I am still trying to get my bird ID's down.
I didn't get totally skunked on Saturday, I was lucky that this Northern Harrier zoomed right over me at Coyote Hills
