...and it is sweet! Two things have become abundantly clear already: (1) I'm really going to need to refine my technique to get consistently good shots when handholding from 3:1 and above, and (2) diffraction really is a big problem at the higher magnifications with a T2i (550D) body. I'm not satisfied with the sharpness at f/11 at anything greater than 1:1. I guess this diffraction problem is one more reason to plan to get the 5D someday. I would be more excited about it if Canon would make a full-frame equivalent to the 17-55 f/2.8 IS...

This last one is a bit of a cheat; I just wanted to show the limits of what I've achieved with the 100mm macro. Although the MP-E is amazing, I think the 100mm macro will always be my favorite. This is a 60-shot, 1:1 stack.

Haha, and now I see that the day after I complained that Canon doesn't have a 17-55 f/2.8 IS equivalent for full-frame bodies, they announce the 24-70 f/2.8 USM II. Notice the LACK of IS in that title. I guess the quest continues, although now I'm guessing it's going to take much longer than I expected to see such an instrument... Perhaps I should just get a 7D someday instead. It won't solve my high-magnification diffraction problem, but at least the viewfinder is much bigger.

lovely Lacewing but agree the 100mm shot is the best.

Very nice set, esp like the lacewing and the last ladybug. Good job with the MPE.

Nice photographs, I have the 100mm macro, and will never change it, I do think that to want the MP-E you have to be seriously into macro considering the limitations of it only being used for macro and the cost.

Great shots. I have the 100L and I use it with kenko tubes to get closer and it works pretty well. Would love to give the MP-E a try someday.
