That's really interesting. If you keep a Canon body too, you could have the best of both worlds. I don't really use AF any when doing landscapes on the tripod. Focus peaking would make MF focusing for best DOF even easier.

Install magic lantern. IMO, that implementation of focus peaking is even better than what the a7r does, but the A7r with the tilt screen is pretty badass.

My buddy

Man how I miss going to Grindelwald! One of my favorite places on earth! Wish I was i to photography when I used to go there (about once every winter for skiing, and a few times in the summer). Did you ever make it over to Tumblebach? <- I think thats how it's spelled, anyway it's the waterfalls inside the mountain about a half hour away from Grindelwald if I remember correctly.

No we didn't. We took the train to Grindeldwald to go up the Jungfrau as part of round trip. We are taking the wives to Interlaken next year and I'll keep that in mind. They need to see this part of the world.

Ah, Trümmelbach Falls (external link). Forgive me, I was a wee-sprout when I lived in Europe. I loved this spot because it feels like something right out of a Tolkien novel :) And yes I 100% agree, the Interlaken region is one of the most amazing spots on Earth.

Canadians are built tough. The locals just smiled at us and the oriental tourists pointed and giggled. I was actually a lot of fun as we got some conversations going. Our hands got cold a lot faster than are legs did. Barely noticed the legs. It was 14 Celsius (57 F) in the valley so I said I'm wearing shorts today.

We looked for hobbits in Gimmelwald but could not find any. We decided we may be descendants because we drank so much beer that week.

Correction. Actually we were there. It is right beside Lauterbrunnen. We took the bus to the of the valley and walked back a long the river to Lauterbrunnen were of course we found a place for a few beer. We could see it sitting on the deck.

On the way we spotted bunch of parachuters. They were base jumping from around Murren. By the time we found the plank there was a lull. We waited for about 45 minutes to see some jumpers and gave up.

This is about ½ mile from the falls.

Nice. I'd say it worth further investigation next time ya go. Not sure about it being much of a photo op because you're stuck along a cramped path, and it can be littered with tourists (though IIRC they do it in batch tours as space inside is limited). Still, an amazing site. It's much bigger than what the pictures show, and the best way to describe is it's like a canyon with lots of twists and turns that happens to have water falling through it constantly.
