I took a little while to get used to my Mark 2, it feels more clinical than the original, but I'm falling into it.

Good decision-making on your part. I sold mine after getting my a7R and Otus 55mm, but I was premature, and now regret that decision. I want it back. :)

Nothing beats Otus. As for zoom, you can always rely to an extent on foot zoom. I see that your wife was understanding and steered you towards D810 - worth pushing your luck, by any chance? :-)

My second newborn session, and i decided to try this lens...it worked pretty well with just window light 1/100 70mm at 2.8. I usually use the 50 1.2.
