The 14-24 is practically a bagful of primes - better than most prime lenses in that range! Also, there's a special, extra-large Lee filter holder for it.

Dude! I just saw the Zeiss 15 2.8 rumor!:p

The canon version is just so-so. Maybe the nikon version is better. But the nikon 16-35 vr is nice. I Played around with my coworkers. Love the vr.

Come on Ilumo. You joining us or what? ;)

The 16-35 f/4 VR is a nicer lens than the 17-40, imo. I was going to get the 16-35 f/4 + converter for the 5D2. But the Dark Side is pulling me in ... :D

Not sure if anyone has made a size side by side comparison between 36 and 22 MP, but here it is. I've upsize the 5D3's image to 36MP and it still looks sharp and impressive.

QUOTED IMAGE

Any chance you could post 100% crops of the upsized images, alongside D800 shots for comparison, at various ISO settings?

Well, Nikon pulled the plug on the D700 despite their announcements to the contrary. Canadian suppliers no longer list the D700 and those that ordered within past few weeks are getting calls cancelling orders.

both image is from the 5D3, i took them from imagingresource.com. i just scaled the size so we can see the difference in size between the two cameras. Last time i check they didn't have any D800 samples yet.

Maybe they can concentrate on getting FX lenses out to the major dealers now.

I think my mind is pretty much made up. Work my a$$ off and by the time the 2nd or 3rd shipments arrive, I'll have the duckets. ;)

Time to live off plain oats, collect cans, or whatever it takes hehe  Seriously!!

This is the photo that disproves the need for expensive glass with the D800. Shot with the 50/1.8G which goes for $220.
