It's not full-resolution, just a 20MP mRAW (or whatever Nikon wants to call it).

I wonder how much more fine detail was in the 36MP original?

Also, was this the D800, or the D800e?

you know that the canon plastic fantastic at f/4.0 is just as good right? and cheaper... :D

Pentagons is Canon.

I actually like how light it is. if anything happens to it, its only 99$. woohoo.

Yeah, but how sharp is it at higher resolution? I'd like to see it at even full screen on my monitor.

Just joined the D800 club.

Making the switch for two main reasons: better DR and more MP resolving power. Perhaps the 5D III will have improved DR, but Canon isn't touting it. The D700 already has a great DR, but Nikon is claiming improvement with the D800. That says enough for me.

I ordered the D800 rather than the D800E cause I'm concerned about moire for architectural shots...should I not worry and just get the D800E?

I don't enjoy prospects of selling my gear, but it is fun starting all over with new stuff. :)
