haha.. ran across this a little while ago myself... it's hilarious to hear it like this, but kind of sad how often it really does occur, too

If everyone got a nice camera, we'd be out of business

It's sad but true. I've been asked so many times what model camera I use because "they" want to have photos that look just as good.

This is very funny. I feel what your pro-photographer feel, because I'm a auto detailer and the market is saturated with kids with a buffer claiming they can detail ( when they can do more harm than good )

but don't your results better than most amateurs? because people clearly see the difference b/w my detail vs that buffer kid.

Yeah, I get this all the time as well. One guy in particular who follows me on Facebook is always asking how come his shots don't look like mine when he spent money on getting a 60D and a nice lens. He seems to think throwing more money at it will help him even though I've said repeatedly that he just needs to practice and learn what's going on. It's frustrating

Not sure if this was being directed at me, but my comment about people getting nice cameras was just being sarcastic :) So many people think if they just had a nice camera they'd be getting the same results. They refuse to believe that it's not that simple.

I get it, it's like people saying " just wax it and it will be shiny" when the final product really has to do with prep work. I believe photography is the same, it's not just snap and print, people believe that 30 mp camera will just do the job without getting good light and exposure.

You should tell your FB friend that your secret to excellent quality photos is an $800 Gitzo tripod. See if he bites and drops the cash on it!:lol:

haha... I'm almost positive that he would. When in doubt, he usually defaults to just assuming the shot was as bad as his straight out of camera and it was made to look nice in Photoshop :p

For a pilot, and someday passengers will ask if we use autothrottles, autopilot, and a coupled approach . . . so why should they pay so much for the ticket?
