Nice series. Just last week I was trying to do something similar to your 2nd picture, but I couldn't get the foreground in focus either. It's still something I'd like to pull off, but I'm not sure I can do it without making a composite image. Yours turned out better than mine did...

Nice shots. Really likin #1&2. Wondering if cropping some of the right off of #1 might highlight the moon and tree on the left.

Yep, I'm still trying to perfect my technique for this type of shot. I actually dropped the ball and shot this one wide open at f/5.6, 1/100, @400mm. I definitely had more shutter speed that I could have played with to increase the depth of field. The Moon moves quickly through the trees as it is setting, and I was paying more attention to composition than depth of field. Lesson learned, and there's always next time.

I've thought about that too (it's actually already cropped off some). The problem I have with taking off any more is that I would lose vertical space also. I don't think it would look as good as a square crop, and I've already gone 5:4. I took some of the shots in portrait orientation, but didn't like them as much.

The first shot is the feature photo at TodaysPhoto.org!
