If you had to choose between 3 and 5 lenses for your collection what would they be?

Dan ;)

If I wasn't paying for it and my fairy god mother was I would say:

24-70mm F2.8L
70-200mm F2.8L
100-400mm L
50mm 1.4
85mm 1.2L

I'm set!

70-200 2.8L IS
50 1.4

The ones to add:
16-35 f/2.8L
Sigma 120-300 2.8(the affordable way to get the 300 2.8L IS for me)
85 1.8

Runner up:
Prime: 35 1.4L
Zoom: 24-70L

And the body:
10D now
20D possibly soon

Pair of 1.4 and 2.0x extenders / 70-200 F/2.8L IS
I know its six... but only five if you count the 2 extenders as one :D

Note: You can edit my photo just tell me how you did it ;)

17-40 L as a walk around
35 L
50 1.4 ( 50 L if you can find one)
85 L
135 L
300 2.8 I S L + 1.4x TC

Then, I would say you are all set for all situations except true Macro and t/s.

Then I would suggest the Sigma 150mm macro and Canon TS-E 45mm for landscape/architecture purposes.

I'm fairly happy with my current collection given the DSLR I own now, but given that this would be magic land an $$ is free...

I'd have a FF 1D body to pull these off....

16-35mm f2.8L (to replace the 10-22mm I have now.)
24-70mm f2.8L
70-200mm f2.8L (but money is free so add IS to it.)

[all of the above could happen on day...]

But the kicker lens would be the 300mm f2.8L throw in a 1.4x and I'm not sure you'd ever need another lens. At least for my tastes all the above lenses would be sharp and fast enough.

I kaNt sPeL...

What I own
EF-S 17-85mm IS USM
EF 35mm f/2.0

What I'd like to get, in intended purchase order (no fairy god mother, unfortunately)
Canon EF 70-200mm f/4 USM L
Canon EF 60mm or 100mm f/2.8 USM macro (still obsessing over choice here)
Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 USM

John
