I'm thinking about following set in near future;

canon 10-22
sigma 30/1.4
canon 50/1.8
canon 135L

What do you think about my idea?

this is my 5 lens collection. I'm not going to get any additional lenses. Just replacements.
QUOTED IMAGE

if new 24-70 comes out, i will replace the 24-105 with it. if a 14-24L comes out, I will replace the 17-40L. if a 100-400 L II comes out, I might get rid of the 70-200.

I'm curious--if money is not a limiting factor (and you make it sound that way), why do you not replace the 70-200 f4 IS with the 70-200 II? The 70-200 f4 IS is a stellar lens, but it's no 70-200 II

because I don't want to lug around a huge lens like that and I don't need 2.8 for outdoors. If I am going to lug around something big, I better be getting some range, ala 100-400. I dont want the current version because it's ancient and the IS is pretty crummy.

Arriving on Monday are a 5DII and a 24-70. I'm pretty sure that will do me for a while, along with my current 50/1.8 when I want a prime to play around with ... when my finances recover from that kick in the kidney I might upgrade the 50 depending on how much use it's getting or see what else I fancy.

I posted in this thread along time ago, but my ideas have changed :P This is the setup I want to work towards, but it's going to take some time :( I have a 50D now, but I want a 5D of sorts in the near future.

1) 8-15L
2) 24-70L
3) 50L
4) 70-200L II

10-22
15-85
70-200 f/4L IS (it's lighter than the 2.8)
100-400 f/4.5-5.6L IS (but thinking/dreaming of the 70-200 f/2.8 II + 2X III)
500 f/4L IS (with a 1.4x when I need it (wondering about the 1.4x III))

Wow, that's $1,000 for TCs if I upgrade the 1.4 II and 100-400 plus the cost of the 70-200 f/2.8 II. :(

Canon: 7D (2, 1 gripped), 50D gripped, 500 f/4L IS, 100-400 L IS, 70-200 f/4L IS, 28-135 IS, 10-22, 15-85 IS, 1.4x II, 580EX
5D3, 24-105 f/4L IS, 17-40 f/4L IS, TS-E 24 f/3.5L II. S100 p&s

Let me go a different way and not assume a fairy-godmother is paying for it. Let's also assume I have kids and a job that doesn't involve photography so this is a hobby. Finally let's assume that I'm not wealthy.

With all that said, here's my plan - in the order I plan to buy them:

Canon 18-200
Canon 10-22
Canon 100 Macro
Canon 100-400 F/4-5.6L
Canon 15-85

Then if I happen to have any money left: Canon 50mm 1.4

I am serious....and don't call me Shirley.
Canon 7D and a bunch of other stuff
