I am working my way into the 'realistic' 3 lens collection.

Mine would, ideally, have been:
- Canon 10-22 EF-S
- Canon 17-55 EF-S
- Canon 70-200 f4 IS

Of this ideal, I have compromised to not having the IS on the 70-200, and have the 17-55 on the way. I'll see if finally I need as wide a lens as the 10-22 or if a faster prime like the 28mm f1.8 is more a priority.

Rafa.

I'm done!

Tokina 11-16
Sigma 85
Canon 35L

The only thing I would ever do is replace the Tokina with the Canon 16-35 L II. As long as I don't need a weather sealed body I don't see that happening. Feels good having what I need for what I shoot!

So, you basically use the Tokina as a 16mm prime when on the 5d2?

For 7D and current needs

Canon 15-85 (travel, walkaround)
Canon 70-300 L (outdoor sports)
Sigma 30 f1.4 (indoors, lowlight photo and video)
Canon 85 f1.8 (gymnastics)
Canon 135 f2 L (gymnastics)
Canon TS-E 24 II (landscape)

Consider new EF-S 15-50 2.8 IS when comes out if not too heavy or whatever the focal length along with a EF-S 50-125 2.8.

PS. The 70-200 2.8 MKII is overrated.

My realistic lens collection, the lenses in my bag right now:

Tokina 11-16
Canon 17-40 f4
Canon 85 1.8
Canon 28-135 < not the greatest, but served me well since day 1
Canon 70-200 f2.8 IS

USD3100 for the lenses, tons of happy customers..
the other lenses come and go, but this 5 always with me.
fell in love with 16-35, 70-200 IS 2, 35L, 17 TSE, and 200 f2.
24-70 and 24-105 may replaced 28-135 but not so soon

:)
