do you have alternate reality? haha  i kid..
hows that sigma 24-70 working for you?

The Sigma 24-70 is an awesome lens. At about $300 used, it's a massive bargain compared to "the brick" (which I consider overpriced)

Haha most definitely! An alternate reality which could come about with the bank account of my parents or life savings...!

I bought 3 days ago so it should be coming in a few days! I'm so excited for it :D
I got it because I always feel that I need more reach with the Tamron 17-50 non-VC

Very true! I couldn't possibly justify the extra 600-700 dollars so I went with the Sigma, which I hear has about the same IQ  !

list:
Canon 10-22
Canon 15-85
Sigma 30 1.4
Canon 100-400/sigma 50-500OS
Canon 100L macro

But realistically I'd have more than that because I wouldn't sell my 55-250 or my kit lens :)

This is just what I wanted to read, I've been saving for a while for the brick but I always eyed the sigma versions and kept saying 'man, I could own that now...'

Decided to simplify. Went from:

Tokina 12-24 (BROKEN AND FOR SALE)
Sigma 24-70 (RETUNRING FROM SIGMA - SALE PENDING)
Canon 28 1.8 (SOLD)
Sigma 50 1.4
Canon 85 1.8
Canon 135 f2L (SOLD)

To:
Canon 17-55 f2.8 IS
Sigma 50 1.4
Canon 85 1.8

WISH LIST: Canon 70-200 f2.8 MkII - it will be a while!

Agree with comments below about the Sigma - it is a great lens. I will miss it's reach to 70mm, but the 17-55 gives me a excellent walkaround lens in a single package to make up for the 12-24/24-70 combo. Anybody thinking about the 17-55 should stop - JUST DO IT!

It is a fanstastic lens, and SUPER SHARP! And for all of those who say IS does not matter at that focal range, it does...1/5 sec hand held (and even better for some) is pretty nice!

I know I've always felt that I needed a lens for every occasion just in case but about 4 or 5 months ago I narrowed it down to two, I had intended to replace the longer lens that I'd sold but frankly don't need it. I am so loving working with just the two I have that I think I'll stay there for a while unless it comes up that I seriously can't live without anything else.

On a MKIII, it's a 24-70 and 85 1.2, plus some extension tubes and a very nice lighting setup.
