For my current purposes, I have a 28-105 3.5-4.5 and it rarely lets me down. The only thing I miss is a wider FOV and I wish I had some Image stabilization on it. Having said that, I'd like a 24-105 F4L because of the IS, a 17-40L for the wide angle and don't really need a third lense, I'm happy with my 50 1.8

Hmmm....pretty much what I have now - 16-35mm, 24-70mm, 70-200mm IS, 85mm f/1.2 and I suppose the 15mm fisheye would be a nice addition. Then there is the 45mm TS-E.....damn, I was happy not wanting anything more until this post came along!

I see where this is going Dano and I think for the sake of your sanity you had better just get the best there is and then get rid of what you don't use after that:D So, you have the 24-70 and the 70-200-better trade that in on the IS model. So, now you need the 35 1.4 85 1.2 135 2.0 and maybe the 16-35 2.8 and while you are at it, throw in the new 24-105 4IS. Then, might as well have a full frame, so you can call it quits and enjoy taking pictures. That's only seven or eight.:D :D :D :D :D :D :D

My "beatles" are:
17-40mm f4
50mm f1.4
100mm f2.8 macro
135mm f2

My wanted 5th element would be
24-70mm f2.8, or
85mm f1.8, or
200mm f2.8, or
300mm f4 IS

Oh, I nearly missed the lovely 1.4x extender.
