I'm getting back $1200 on my tax refund. I don't know if I should take the plunge and pick up a *used* 50L or grab a sigma 50mm 1.4, and 135mm. Such a tough decision, so I thought I use a "lifeline" and ask the audience.

If I were you, I'd get the 135 and something wider like the 24mm f/1.4

50L! I love mine....it is solid with its amazing build quality, the weight and size goes well with my 5d mk II! Not to mention the dreamy creamy bokeh u get from shooting wide open

I did, but I might sell it and fork it towards the 50L. I don't know yet since the sigma isn't here until Monday.

Sigma and 135. That's my typical bang-for-your-buck response. The one downside of the Sigma 50 is it may be pretty far off in AF calibration. Mine's currently in transit to be calibrated with my body, but then again one of the bodies I shoot with doesn't have MA so it was quite critical.

All these horrible story about focusing issue on the sigma. Should I be worry when my *used* sigma arrives?

But then again I've always wanted a 50L.

24 1.4 if you like to shoot wide. 50 is not really as useful since you have 35 and the 85.

I have a 17-40 to shoot wide. Pretty rare that I do shoot wide. I believe every photographer should have a 50mm lens in their bag. I'm just trying to find which one is right for me.

I was worried. And rightfully so. Terrible front focus. But once calibrated, they are amazing.

There is a 135L in your picture. Why would you buy another one?
