I got hired to shoot an event tonight, First time shooting night life/clubbing event.
Any tips on settings and how to get those "light painting" shots,
I'll be shooting with 5D II + 24L + old canon 430EZ flash

what kind of 'light painting' shots?

It really depends on the club. Every club will have different amounts of light. You'll want to drag the shutter longer, play with ISO / Aperture / flash power to get the desired effect.

If you zoom in and out during the exposure, it creates a cool effect. Unfortunately, it's hard to do that with a prime lens and might find the 24L a little long.
