In my opinion, this looks like a photographic mistake not something to try to copy and emulate.

Also shouldn't be posting pics that aren't yours...

That's the rule here, link to photos that aren't yours, don't embed them.

You can achieve this by shooting into the sun. It won't come out exactly the same, i have never seen a flare of two different colors?a But in this picture you can tell the photog is shooting into the sun because of the rim light on the models hair. However as mentioned previously i wouldn't say as a general rule try to avoid lens flare altogether especially on the models face.

It's called shooting into the sun. It's pretty simple. Take your lens hood off and aim into the sun late in the afternoon when the sun is low. It helps if the sun is at an off angle rather than straight on, but that depends on the lens as well.

If all you want is a washed out look you can soften the image a tad, push the exposure a bit, reduce contrast, warm and then desaturate. At that point the lens flare is optional.

I would like to have a word with Michael Bay, mainly about the screeching, screaming little girl he put in the Transformers movies. I think her name was Shay, Shaw, Shia...something like that...
