Yes, the birding and bird photography Gods are smiling on me again this Winter with the addition of a female Yellow-bellied Sapsucker to my photo Life List. YAY!
First spotted early in the evening Thursday, I waited all of yesterday afternoon w/camera at the ready but to no avail. Of course, as I went to walk the dogs late yesterday afternoon without my camera she erupted from a holly bush in the front yard.....DOH! I just knew that she wouldn't be back and that I'd probably missed my chance. She showed up again today......thank you, thank you, thank you!

Yellow-bellieds are listed as "uncommon" in Sibleys and only visit my area in the Winter. I'm pretty happy w/these images as "starters" based on the fact that they were shot through 1 extra piece of glass, thankfully cleaned yesterday in anticipation, and somewhat hurriedly processed. I'd be happy to entertain your comments, critiques, and criticisms as usual. Thank you for looking in......

Congrats Steve! First of all they are very good considering that you shot through a window. Nice color and nice detail. My only criticism is that I did not see it at my house or get to photograph it! :) Great job. Patience pays off.

Good job! woodies are always on my list. Yellow bellies are so nice. You did a great job they are very clear. I find woodies to be hard to find and when you do they are fast moving around the tree.

You must have really great windows to be able to get that much detail through them.

I appreciate it Levina. I enjoy sharing a little of the "chase" story and the enthusiasm that goes with it.

I appreciate your nice comments No Angle. I think you're right about hard to find if you're out and about. They are not easy here either.

Haha Jon. No, just recently cleaned! I would normally open the glass door, but the temps have drop into the 30's today. Thanks for commenting.
