Last year I got a spyder 3 pro and with the help of this site had my cheap dell monitor calabrated. Then I got a virus on my computer. Didn't loose anything after getting the system cleaned but started gettting a "sanity check" errror message when I tried to calabrate. I went through Datacolor re-enstalled and upgraded the software. still get the error message tried it on the laptop it works fine. I checked for updates on the Radeon HD 5700, no update, software working fine. So I thought it was a corrupted monitor problem. I have since bought a Dell U2410 and I still get the same error massage. I'm thinking about renting or borrowing a diffrent color calabration device if I can find one and try that. Any ideas on what might be causing the error message?

"Sanity Check" error message? Can you describe exactly when this error message occurs? Steps to reproduce?

Got me puzzled...............first time I have heard of this error message. Does it literally say "sanity check"???

If so methinks you still have nasties lurking after the system clean up???

Edit ~ Googling for such messages only throws up Linux programs/programming as issuing such titled messages!

That was a great meal ~ you must have a good set of pans :p

Thanks for the help Bagman and Box brownie

"Sanity Check" error message? Can you describe exactly when this error message occurs? Steps to reproduce?

It happens at the end while it is measuring the colors. going by the progress bar it is more than 3/4 of the way done. Happens when it measures white. Just tried to run it 2 times. sanity checkLUT FAILED 23,127.5,123.5 the first time and
sanity checkLUT FAILED 24,127.5,123.5 the second time.

methinks you still have nasties lurking after the system clean up

I have had 2 different IT men clean the system at different times. And am presently using Malwarebytes and McAfee.

From here (external link) (somewhere on the page, Search for the phrase:

acoording to Datacolor means the hardware cannot "make sense" of the profile

Contact the helpdesk to see what they have to say?

When the IT guys cleaned the system.. Did they just 'rip' out the virus to cure you? Did they reinstall the O/S? Do a System Recovery?

Have you tried completely uninstalling Datacolor's software/driver and reinstall it? I would also do the same for the video card's driver/software.

Thanks for the replies.
I searched for the phrase on the link and nothing came up. have unsinstalled and reinstalled the data color software and contacted there helpline.
I know one of the IT (George) only removed the viruses didn't reinstall the o/s or video card. not sure about the other IT (Chris) I don't have a disc for the video driver or O/S. have contacted the people with radeon 5700 display adapter and asked about resetting or reloading was told it has nothing to do with color calibration. I guess reloading the O/S or system recovery my be my only option.

Did you contact AMD/ATI directly about your Radeon HD5700? If so, do you know how you spoke with?

Contact was through E-mail, here is there reply.

Unfortunately there are no settings in the driver for your Radeon product that relate to color calibration.

I would suggest you contact the software vendor to determine what is generating this error.

In order to update this service request, please respond, leaving the service request reference intact.

Best regards,

AMD Global Customer Care

Time to reload software to restore your PC to factory condition, and start over (be sure you have all your data files backed up before you do that, though!!!)
