Kata 3n1 ProLight - 25PL

Anyone here use this bag? The price is about the same as the f-Stop Kenti, but after seeing the video from the KATA site, it looks pretty good.

Not sure if anyone here is using it? If so, how do you like it?

It's a new edition of the bag line so I don't know if there are many people with it (I also would like to know how the upgrades/changes work for others).

yea, im going to try an check out some photo shops during the week to see if they have it. need to get one soon, but don't want to just pick any one out and regret later.

I don't have the new 25PL but I do have the Kata 3N1 22 and the F-stop Guru. Personally, just based off of quality they will be similar but if you plan to hike then the straps on F-stop bags are much better than on Kata's 3n1 line.

^^ thanks! i am really thinking about the f-stop kenti or the 25PL. but i haven't found any pics of ppl with f-stop kenti worn on their back. i'm 5'8 and dont want to end up looking like a goof with the kenti. hehe

Too bad price is more than double of the 3n1 22. Wonder what type of improvements it has from the 22...

i know the PL = prolight.. so supposely the materials are lightweight

after looking at the difference.. they look about the same... can't really tell the difference. their website doesn't allow for side by side comparison.

*edit: i compared it side by side based on the dimension.. looks like the 25PL is larger but internal storage space is the same, but the 25PL can support a heavier load.

dang.. just found out that tripod holder is sold separately.. boooooo!!!

used to have a 3in1 22, hated the straps they were too stretchy which caused the backpack to bounce up and down, I think the bumblebee strap are a superior design

^^ thank you so much for the flickr photos for the kenti!! yea i hear the same from my customer that had the kata 3n1 and complain the strap was stretchy.. so that's why i've been on the edge deciding.

but now i see the kenti photos... drool.......... should i just bite the bullet and just fork it over?

It's a pity Lowepro have recently discontinued this Primus AW range, it could have been an option for you

I've got the minmus version (the smallest), the compression straps on all models allow you to make the bag have a lower profile, unlike the usual boxes with straps, the top compartment is flexible storage you can fit a gripped body easily in it and it if you get an insert with dividers you can fit lenses and other accessories as well.

The front flap compartment will easily carry a hydration bladder or tablet or netbook. The well designed 8 point harness gives you a lot of adjustment and it has the built in tripod holder.

It makes for a great day/urban bag as it's unobtrusive, compact with a lot of flexible storage

interesting bag.. made of recycle materials and a portion goes to polar bear funding. now i got even more to decide on. grrrrr....

Keep in mind that the Primus AW weighs 4+lbs without a bit of gear in it.

The Kenti weighs 3+lbs.

The Clik Elite PB Sport 2.5lbs.

The Lowepro Versapack 200 2+lbs.


...if that doesn't complicate matters.

I'm pretty much in the same boat you're in with the search of a daypack, we have a bit of overlap in our kits. Every time I get sick of the search and am about to pull the trigger on a bag, I stop myself and say "yeah, but..." lol

^^ damn... so you totally know how i feel. in fact, i was down in SD not too long ago and had a blast there shooting at night without a tripod. lol

i went there with my velocity 7 pack and then wished i had a bigger bag and more supportive bag. cuz after walking 2 miles and staying out at night for close to 4hrs shooting.. the sling bag killed my shoulder.

but thank you so much for the bag weight! the clik elite sport is on my list too. next time i'm down in SD.. i'll let you know.
