I watched this guy (or girl) hover over a field for about 5 minutes before it dove into some tall grass, flying up with some grass trailing from its talons. It wasn't until I got home and downloaded them that I could see it was clinging to some unfortunate rodent as it flew back to the top of a tree where I presume it was dinner time. There is a pair that I think are nesting near the city park where I grabbed these. I would have needed at least 800mm to get shots of it hovering. Would have been cool! These were taken with my 7D and 100-400L. One of these times I will actually have my prime glass when I see something like this.
