Always enjoy a beautiful sequence of the Downy... a very nice set Steve, in my view they are the most friendly & social of the woodpeckers in the forest.

Those are superb Steve, well done. You've done really well to get close enough to get that detail. I'm trying every trick I can think of and I just can't get within 30 feet of ours.

Excellent detail Steve! And again, dunno why yours don't mind getting close, but here, they stay miles away. Now you know why i need even longer lens. :p

It looks like you worked hard to get them in some nice light, Steve, and it worked out well. I'm amazed at the numbers of woodpeckers around here, they certainly won't be on any endangered species list for a very long time ;)

Wow! What a great set. You really got up close for those. Maybe you have an invisible suit.

I was in the park yesterday, met another bird photographer (although he's more of a birder than a photographer). As we were talking he said: look look, a woodpecker. Never saw him until he flew away and even then I just saw a dark silhouette amidst the trees. And here you have a male as well as a female!! And they're beauties, Steve. Looks like you were pretty close. Love them!
