Hello all,
I want to buy a good quality CPL and ND for my lenses and i need some help choosing one.
I don't mind spending a little more to get a quality one but there are too many choices, from a 53 pound Hoya 77mm PRO1 to a B + W 77mm Kasemann for 130 pound.

My second question is if it's a good idea to use the same 77mm CPL and ND filters on all of my lenses with a step-down ring, cause i want to buy one good quality filter instead of 2 or 3. Currently i have the 15-85 (72mm), 400mm 5.6(77mm), Tamron 180mm and i want to buy an ultrawide, probably the Canon 10-22 or Tokina 11-16.

I like a B+W ksm and a 0.9 ND filter, it's enough to me. Variable ND is fine but can not afford $300. Lee is too bulk to carry for most tourists.

B+W is the right answer for a screw-in job but you'll probably get vignetting with step-rings on the wide angle when you get there. That one will most likely need its own slim filter.

Not to discredit what Roy said, but the Lee system is great for multiple ring-size lenses. You only buy the adaptor ring for each filter size and then re-use the filters themselves across the board.

It is bulky, but not crazy so. I've got mine riding around in the Pelican with the rest of my kit.

Definitely get the B&W. Buy the 77mm slim version and then you won't have to worry about anything when you buy a 10-22 lens.

As for a ND, well, I'm a big fan of a Lee Foundation Kit and then you can buy a number of Hitech filters to fit your needs. ($66 USD each). But if you want to stick to a circular ND, then the absolutely best way to go is the Singh-Ray vari-ND. Expensive? Yes. But the quality and versatility is outstanding!

What's the difference between the Lee foundation kit and starter kit? Is it the stacking ability of the foundation kit or do you need both kits and then adapter rings please?

Cheers
