This was released by the Public Affairs office:
ATTENTION El Centro Airshow Fans: Starting on Thursday morning, March 8, we will be actively enforcing the aerobatic box closure. What that means to everyone is that the hay bales will be off limits from Thursday - Saturday. They hay bales fall squarely in the aerobatic box and in order to keep the box sterile and not get shut down by the FAA, we will be closing Silsbee road and working with local law enforcement to keep that area free of spectators.I know that a lot of people like to come out the week of the show and shoot from there, but we almost got shut down last year, so we need to make sure the word gets out as much as possible. People will be sent away if they try to access that area this year. Thanks for your help.V/r -NAF El Centro PAO office

I applied for a credential last year. Never heard a word from them and I'd been accredited the previous three years. Not going to waste my time this year...

If I go, I'd have to fly from LAX to Imperial County airport.
My guess is that a lot of others will be doing the same. Anyone know if there will be a shuttle bus service between IPL & NAF El Centro?

I would be inclined to doubt it...

There's really no connection between EC and IPL except for the occasional Helo crew that might fly an approach to IPL if EC's pattern is jumping.

But they have an airport serviced by United Express from LAX. And the airport is only about 5 miles from NAF El Centro.
