And to update you about the 70-200 4 IS , after they refunded my money because my paypal wasn't confirmed , i verified it and re-ordered the lens . this morning they re-refunded (:D) the money , because they asked for a confirmed address not a verified account , i didn't know there's such a thing as a confirmed address , i checked my paypal account and realized that the shipping address i used for the lens was not confirmed because i used "east" in english , instead of "est" in french . UNBELIEVABLE ! now i'm gonna have to wait till next week till the money is refunded to my credit card before i can re-re-order the lens !

geez...this is frustrating. it'll be worth the wait Mitch! nice shot btw!

I got my 1Diii and used it a bit tonight just to get familiar with it. I was surprised at how well the T2i prepared me for the 1D. I read the manual (pdf) on my flights for vacation last week, knowing the camera would be here when I got back. I was able to pick it up, customize it, and get a feel for it very quickly. It has an impressive array of settings to customize things like AF points/speed/processing priority, etc.

We'll see how it goes. I'm certainly keeping the T2i and plan on using it for a lot of stuff, but I think my 70-200 is going to stay on the 1D for the foreseeable future.

Oh, and 10FPS sounds like an assault rifle (external link).

movin' on up! congrats Rockets!

Thanks guys! I'll probably still be taking half my captures with the T2i, so I'm not going anywhere. Heck, I may find that 10MP @ 1.3x isn't enough for me and change my mind to a 7D (re-sell 1D MkII). We'll see how it goes when soccer starts up or during some swimming shoots.

Congrats on the D3 Rockets.

Thanks, but we have to be careful how we abbreviate... D3 (external link). ;)

Congrats on the S3 Mitch. I will be doing the same on my next trip out.

I think that's my next phone too. I almost jumped on it last week, but Verizon said I'd not be grandfathered in on unlimited data with my new contract. So, I'll go month-to-month until my Droid Incredible starts to bug me (right now, it's awesome... rooted). I'd have to go to a 5GB plan since I use my phone for wifi quite often, and stream to my wife's iPad so the kids can watch NetFlix in the car O_o.

I don't want to bring you down from from your high but here is what 30 FPS sounds like (external link)... they sequentially linked 3 1Diiis to capture Barry Bonds' record breaking home run.

Isn't that badass? I'm sure that someone will soon rig up some 1DXs to do the same, but at 42fps! I think I've seen every 1D MkIII video on YouTube in the last week :)

Here are the photos (external link) they got out of that 30fps. Not quite bat-on-ball, but really damned close considering the speeds of the parts. I'm surprised they didn't PP those to have identical composition...

In Idaho, we saw a bit of MTB Nats in Sun Valley. I didn't have a flash for fill. Did some panning with the 17-55.

Second one is made with DIY welding glass 'ND Filter', hence the lack of colors.

Thanks all.

Viper, I like the tone of the welding glass shot
Mitch, the perspective on that building is very cool. The left side is almost parallel to the frame.

Using my 85mm at night , i usually miss(need) the IS , and i'll be needing it more at 200mm and according to Canon the IS is worth 4 stops (even if it's actually 3 ) + I don't really care for the extra dof for street photography , i'd rather have the IS .

Hmmm is it really worth that much? From talking to other photographers who shoot motorsports and do a lot of panning I've heard that only when panning IS makes much of a difference or with video...
